Rebecca King, LPC, PMH-C

Hi! I'm Rebecca, and I've been helping people as a counselor since 2012 after finishing my studies at Montclair University. I joined this wonderful practice in 2021, and I absolutely love what I do. My heart is especially drawn to working with women who are navigating life's big changes, particularly the journey into motherhood. Whether you're planning to become a mom, just had your little one, or experienced a loss, I'm here to listen and support you.

I know firsthand how overwhelming it can be to juggle everything life throws at you – from managing daily stress to adapting to major life changes. As a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Specialist (fancy words for someone who really understands the emotional ups and downs of pregnancy and new motherhood!), I'm here to walk alongside you during this chapter of your life. My goal is simple: to help you create the life you dream of for yourself and your family, all while providing a caring, understanding space where you can just be you.

FAQ

Perinatal mental health encompasses the emotional and psychological well-being of women during pregnancy, postpartum (after childbirth), and even preconception. It addresses a range of mental health conditions that can arise during this time, including depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and more.

We offer individual therapy sessions tailored to the specific needs of each client. Our perinatal mental health specialist uses evidence-based approaches to address a variety of concerns related to pregnancy and postpartum.

The "baby blues" are a common experience characterized by mild mood swings, tearfulness, and irritability that typically resolve within a couple of weeks after childbirth. Postpartum depression is a more serious and prolonged condition involving persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and loss of interest in activities. It often requires professional treatment.

If you are experiencing significant emotional distress, struggling to cope with the changes of pregnancy or new motherhood, or having difficulty functioning in your daily life, it's a good idea to seek support. Some common signs you might benefit from therapy include persistent sadness, anxiety, changes in sleep or appetite, difficulty bonding with your baby, and feelings of guilt or worthlessness.

Yes, therapy has been shown to be very effective in treating perinatal mental health conditions. Evidence-based therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) can help you manage symptoms, develop coping skills, and improve your overall well-being.

The length of therapy varies depending on individual needs and goals. Some clients benefit from short-term therapy, while others may require longer-term support. This will be discussed with you during your initial session.

You can easily schedule an appointment by calling us at 609-264-6450 or emailing Rebecca at [email protected]. We'll get back to you promptly to schedule a convenient time.
