Rebecca King, LPC, PMH-C

Hi! I'm Rebecca, and I've been helping people as a counselor since 2012 after finishing my studies at Montclair State University. I joined this wonderful practice in 2021, and I absolutely love what I do. My heart is especially drawn to working with women who are navigating life's big changes, particularly the journey into motherhood. Whether you're planning to become a mom, just had your little one, or experienced a loss, I'm here to listen and support you.

I know firsthand how overwhelming it can be to juggle everything life throws at you – from managing daily stress to adapting to major life changes. As a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Specialist (fancy words for someone who really understands the emotional ups and downs of pregnancy and new motherhood!), I'm here to walk alongside you during this chapter of your life. My goal is simple: to help you create the life you dream of for yourself and your family, all while providing a caring, understanding space where you can just be you.

You can find more info on the perinatal and postpartum care Rebecca provides here.

Josh Cervone, LCSW, BCPCC

Hey there! I'm Josh, and I've been helping people in Southern New Jersey since 2005, when I started working with young people who needed support in Atlantic City. After graduating from Stockton University in 2014, I knew I wanted to create a warm, welcoming space where people could feel truly heard and supported – which is why I opened our practice in 2017 and moved to our current spot in 2020.

I love working with folks who are looking for someone to talk to about life's challenges. As someone who deeply values faith, I've also done extra training to help people who want to bring their Christian beliefs into our conversations together. Whether you're looking to explore your faith as part of our work together or not, I'm here to support you in a way that feels right for you.

My goal is simple – to create a comfortable, judgment-free space where you can be yourself and work through whatever's on your mind. Think of it as having a conversation with someone who's genuinely interested in helping you navigate life's ups and downs.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Therapy provides a safe and confidential space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It can help you develop coping mechanisms, improve relationships, address mental health concerns, and gain a deeper understanding of yourself. Therapy can be beneficial for a wide range of issues, from everyday stressors to more complex mental health conditions.

If you're struggling with difficult emotions, experiencing changes in your mood or behavior, having trouble in your relationships, or simply feel overwhelmed, therapy might be helpful. Even if you're not sure, a consultation with a therapist can help you determine if it's the right fit for you.

Your first session, often called an intake session, is typically focused on gathering information. Your therapist will ask about your history, current concerns, and goals for therapy. This is also a time for you to ask questions and get to know your therapist.

The length of therapy varies depending on individual needs and goals. Some people benefit from short-term therapy (a few sessions), while others may find long-term therapy more helpful. You and your therapist will work together to determine the best course of treatment for you.

The frequency of sessions is typically determined collaboratively between you and your therapist. Most often, sessions are held weekly or bi-weekly, but this can be adjusted based on your needs.

Yes, confidentiality is a crucial aspect of therapy. Therapists are legally and ethically bound to protect your privacy. There are some legal exceptions to confidentiality, such as if you pose a threat to yourself or others, or in cases of suspected child abuse. Your therapist will discuss these limits with you during your initial session.

Our fees vary depending on the therapist and type of service. Rebecca accepts Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ. Josh is private pay only. We also offer some sliding scale spots. Our fees are $150 for the initial session and $125 per session after that.

Finding the right therapist is essential for successful therapy. Consider factors such as the therapist's specialization, experience, and therapeutic approach. It's often helpful to schedule a brief consultation with a few different therapists to see who you feel most comfortable with.

Christian counseling integrates faith and psychology. It acknowledges the importance of spiritual beliefs and values in the healing process. Josh approaches therapy from a biblical perspective, helping you explore your challenges within the context of your faith.

While Christian counseling is rooted in Christian principles, it can be beneficial for anyone who is open to exploring their faith as part of the therapeutic process. Josh welcomes individuals from all backgrounds and belief systems.

Perinatal and postpartum counseling addresses the unique emotional and psychological challenges that can arise during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. This can include issues like postpartum depression and anxiety, adjustment to parenthood, birth trauma, and relationship changes.

It's common to experience a range of emotions during this time. However, if you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, or struggling to cope, it's important to seek support. Don't hesitate to reach out to Rebecca, even if you're unsure if your feelings are "normal."

Some common signs include persistent sadness, anxiety, irritability, changes in sleep or appetite, difficulty bonding with your baby, feelings of guilt or shame, and thoughts of harming yourself or your baby. If you're experiencing any of these symptoms, please seek professional help immediately. You can obtain immediate support by calling the PSI Helpline at 1-800-944-4773 or you can text "Help" to that same number.

Psychiatrists are medical doctors who can prescribe medication. Psychologists have a doctoral degree in psychology and provide therapy. Counselors have a master's degree in counseling and provide therapy.

Please contact our office at least 24 hours in advance to cancel or reschedule your appointment. There is a $50 late cancellation/no-show fee.

You can call our office at 609-264-6380 or email us at [email protected] to request an appointment.
